Nyquist tops the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 and is one of two horses in the race for trainer Doug O’Neill. Purchased for $400,000 in March by Reddam Racing, the bay colt is from the first crop of juvenile champion Uncle Mo and is undefeated from two starts. Last time out, he won the Best Pal Stakes (G2) in his first start against stakes competition. Mario Gutierrez will be in the irons and they are scheduled to break from post position five.
Blameitonthelaw stepping up to stakes company
Second choice at morning line odds of 3-1 is Blameitonthelaw for trainer John Sadler. A bay son of Blame, he was purchased for $320,000 in March and will be making his first start against winners after breaking his maiden in his debut. Last time out, he rallied to break his maiden by 4 ¼ lengths at Del Mar. Tyler Baze will be back aboard and they will break from post seven as he tries to earn his first stakes win.
Swipe trying for first graded stakes score
Also in the field at morning line odds of 4-1 is Swipe for trainer Keith Desormeaux. A dark bay son of Birdstone, he is one of the more experienced contenders in the race with four starts and has been on the board in all of them. He broke his maiden in a minor stakes race at Los Alamitos in his third career start and was second in the Best Pal (G2) last time out. Kent Desormeaux will be aboard from post three.
