The Haskell Invitational is held each year on a Sunday toward the end of July at Monmouth Park in Long Branch, New Jersey, and is regarded as the premier race at Monmouth. It is the richest invitational in the country, with a $1 million purse, and features the top three-year-old thoroughbreds in the country, going 1 1/8 miles on the dirt. The gates for the Haskell Invitational open at 10 a.m. and the first post is scheduled for noon.

Did you know? 

The Haskell Invitational first began in 1968 as Balustrade took home the inaugural win with a time of 1:50.00. The stakes record for the track was set twice at 1:47.00 by Bet Twice (1987) and Majestic Light (1976). The record for the largest winning margin occurred in the 2013 race, which was won by Verrazano at 9 and 3/4 lengths. 

Craig Perret holds the Haskell Invitational record for most wins by a jockey at three. There are seven jockeys tied with two wins apiece in the record books. Bob Baffert holds the record for wins by a trainer with six. Baffert won three straight races from 2010-2012.
