
Seven Set for $150,000 Kent Stakes at Delaware Park
On Saturday at Delaware Park, the track will showcase three-year-old turf horses in the 60th running of the $150,000 Kent Stakes. The Grade 3 race will be run at a mile and an eighth on the grass and has drawn a field of seven.
Headlining the field at morning line odds of 2-1 is Divine Oath for trainer Todd Pletcher. A $200,000 purchase as a yearling, the bay son of Broken Vow is trying to rebound after finishing sixth in the Sercretariat (G1) at Arlington Park. Since his career debut in January at Gulfstream, he has won three of his six starts including the American Derby (G3). Jose Caraballo will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
Cabo Cat going for first graded stakes score
Mark Hennig will saddle Cabo Cat at morning line odds of 3-1. Bred and owned by Lee Lewis, the chestnut son of Kitten’s Joy is trying to earn his first graded stakes victory and has won two of his ten starts. He was last seen finishing third in the Saranac (G3) at Saratoga and earned the first stakes win of his career in the Manilla Stakes in June. Alex Cintron will be in the irons for the first time and the pair will break from post position three.
Craftsman (IRE) proven on Delaware Park turf
Also in the field is Craftsman (IRE) who will be returning to the track where he earned his first stateside victory. Trained by Graham Motion, the sophomore son of Mastercraftsman (IRE) is trying to rebound after finishing seventh in the Better Talk Now Stakes at Saratoga. After beginning his career on his native soil, he made his first United States start last December and is trying to earn his second win. Michael Ritvo will be aboard and they will break from post five.
