Kiss to Remember Tops Field for $60,000 Mardi Gras Stakes
On Tuesday at Fair Grounds, the featured race is the $60,000 Mardi Gras Stakes. The six-furlong contest has drawn a field of six fillies and mares.
Tom Amoss will saddle the favorite, Kiss to Remember, at odds of 2-1 on the morning line. A five-year-old daughter of Big Brown, she has won four of her thirteen career starts, three of which came at Fair Grounds. The graded-stakes placed mare is trying to rebound after finishing fifth in the Houston Ladies Classic Stakes in her first start of the year. James Graham, aboard for her win two starts back in the Pago Hop Stakes, will be in the irons from the outside post.
Lorelei True trying stakes company off the claim
Second choice at 3-1 on the morning line is Lorelei True who will be making her stakes debut for trainer Nick Leggio. A five-year-old daughter of Unbridled’s Song, she is out of the unraced Storm Cat mare, Lorelei K, a daughter of blue-hen producer Win Crafty Lady. After breaking her maiden in her tenth career start, she was claimed out of a winning effort for $30,000 last time out. Miguel Mena will be aboard from post position five.
Table Ten Three trying for first stakes win
Also in the field at morning line odds of 7-2 is Table Ten Three for trainer Michael Stidham. Owned by Team Valor, the six-year-old daughter of El Prado (IRE) has won three of her fourteen starts and is trying to earn the first stakes win of her career. She was sixth in the American Beauty Stakes last time out in her first start of the year and earned her most recent victory in September of 2013. Robby Albarado will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
