Classy Veterans Knock Heads in Grade 3 Hanshin Cup
The field of nine will contest the Hanshin at a mile over the all-weather surface, led by 3/1 morning line favorite Hogy. The Scott Becker-trainee is a 13-time winner and has excelled over the Arlington surface, winning the 2013 Hanshin. In his last start, Hogy snapped a five race losing streak, beating allowance foes June 12 at Arlington. Chris Emigh will be aboard the six year-old gelding breaking from post three.
Agent DiNozzo looks to regain form
Second morning-line choice, Agent DiNozzo (7/2), was a surprise winner of a tough allowance field May 2 at Churchill, but has otherwise fallen on hard times losing 11 of his last 12 starts. In the veteran’s only other start at Arlington, he ran fifth in the 2013 Grade 3 Washington Park Handicap. Trained by Steve Margolis, Agent DiNozzo has won 8 of 26 career starts for earnings of $440,926. Jockey Josh Valdivia gets the call.
Mixed signals for Hammer's Terror
Hammer’s Terror (6/1) was an impressive allowance winner May 31 at Churchill Downs, and his connections opted to skip the Grade 3 Firecracker – perhaps in favor of a softer spot. The six year-old son of Artie Schiller ran third in the 2013 Hanshin, but turf may be his best surface. Robbie Albarado will ride for trainer Joe Sharp breaking from post six.
