The Delaware Park Oaks will be contested on Saturday at Delaware Park. The Grade 2 race for three-year-old fillies has attracted a field of eight to compete for $300,000 in the mile-and-a-sixteenth event.
Installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite is Joint Return, a dark bay daughter of Include trained by Jason Servis and ridden by Kendrick Carmouche. Three of her five career victories have come against ungraded stakes company and she is attempting to earn the first graded stakes win of her career. She was last seen winning the Our Mims Stakes as the favorite at Delaware Park in June.
Fortune Pearl a threat from the outside
Breaking from the outside post is the 7-2 second choice, Fortune Pearl. Trained by Graham Motion, the homebred for owner Zanim Meahjohn will be ridden by Trevor McCarthy. She was third in the Grade 3 Black Eyed Susan Stakes in her last start in May and has won two of her six total starts. She has yet to win against stakes company and will be making only her second start in a stakes race.
Image of Anna tries to prove she is a graded stakes filly
Rick Violette will send out Image of Anna, 9-2 on the morning line, with Daniel Centeno in the irons after a runner-up effort to Joint Return last time out. The sophomore daughter of Ready's Image was able to rebound in the Our Mims Stakes after finishing a dismal eleventh and last in the Black Eyed Susan Stakes. She has two wins from six starts.
